The majority of my scholarship and research deals with socially responsible design practices, focusing primarily on issues of education, health, sanitation, nutrition, equality, social justice and environmental stewardship. I am very interested in strategic design projects dealing with social change, to promote sustainable development and change the world for the better. For that, I devise complex assignments that educate design students on the impact and importance of their work –bridging worlds, whether locally or internationally– so that the interfaces, products and environments they create meet the needs of the greatest number of users.
My passion is to realize design’s potential to help improve the human condition and the global environment. Since many of the design solutions require financial assistance to be implemented, one important aspect of my scholarship work has been applying to call for proposals and/or grants, both for financial sponsorship as well as outreach and dissemination of my work.
